DawnDream Community Rules
"Respect the Realm. Protect the Community. Honor the Dream."
Welcome to the official DawnDream Community Rules. These rules exist to protect the community, preserve fair gameplay, maintain the secrecy and integrity of the DawnDream universe, and establish clear expectations for interactions between players and Administration.
Participation in DawnDream means accepting these rules. Players are responsible for understanding them and for respecting both the community and the platforms where DawnDream is played.
DawnDream rules do not replace the Second Life Terms of Service or Community Standards. Players remain responsible for following Linden Lab policies at all times.
Rule 1 — Administration Protection
DawnDream administrators help maintain balance, order, fair gameplay, and community safety. Players are expected to respect Administration and cooperate when administrators are performing official duties.
Protected Administrators
The following positions receive direct administrative protection:
- The Eternal
- Velkarion
- All Sentinels
Biting or attacking a protected administrator will result in immediate death within the DawnDream system, unless explicit permission was given beforehand.
Permission must always be clearly granted and may never be assumed.
Disrespectful, abusive, threatening, provocative, or toxic behavior directed toward the Eternal, Velkarion, or a Sentinel may result in administrative action. Depending on the severity of the situation, consequences may include warnings, suspension, loss of privileges, or a system ban.
Magistrates & Sentinel Hands
Magistrates and Sentinel Hands are players entrusted with assisting DawnDream Administration.
While actively performing official administrative duties, they must not be harassed, insulted, threatened, deliberately provoked, or intentionally obstructed.
This protection applies only while they are actively performing official administrative duties.
It does not prevent normal gameplay, roleplay, combat, competition, rivalries, or other legitimate player interactions outside those duties.
Violations may result in administrative action.
If a player disagrees with an administrative decision, they may respectfully follow the appropriate chain of command and request that the matter be reviewed.
Rule 2 — Vampire Children
Vampire children are permitted within DawnDream provided that all activity remains fully compliant with the Second Life Terms of Service, Community Standards, and policies concerning child avatars.
Players using child avatars are responsible for understanding and following Linden Lab's rules.
The relevant Second Life policy can be found here:
https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Child_Avatar
DawnDream rules never override Linden Lab policy.
Rule 3 — Secrecy of the DawnDream Community
The supernatural world of DawnDream exists behind a veil of secrecy.
The DawnDream community must remain hidden from humans.
This means humans should not be made aware through DawnDream system information that vampires, lycans, hunters, or other DawnDream creatures exist.
Protecting Creature Identities
No player may show scan results or directly reveal that another resident is a vampire, lycan, hunter, or another creature within the DawnDream system.
You may not show another player's scan, tell a human what another player is, or use DawnDream system information to expose another player's creature identity.
This rule still applies when another player may be violating the rules of a SIM, club, venue, or other location.
For example, if a player is violating a club's rules, you may not reveal that the player is a vampire, lycan, hunter, or another DawnDream creature in an attempt to have them removed or banned.
Another player's supernatural identity belongs to that player.
You may never reveal or confirm the creature identity of another player.
Revealing Your Own Identity
Players may publicly reveal their own identity.
For example, a player may say:
"I am a Vampire."
or:
"I am a Lycan."
However, players may not use protected system information as proof.
This includes sharing:
- Human scans
- Self-scans
- Target scans
- HUD information
- System-generated information
- Similar DawnDream data
You may reveal your own identity through words or roleplay, but protected DawnDream system information must remain protected.
Public Attacks & Risk
Players who choose to attack in public areas accept the risk associated with doing so.
If you attack another creature in an area accessible to humans, you understand that the attack may be witnessed and that the land owner, venue staff, or local administration may remove or ban you from that location.
DawnDream Administration is not responsible for protecting a player from consequences imposed by an independent land owner because that player chose to engage in combat on their property.
Likewise, players who enter DawnDream realms understand that they may be attacked at any time unless they are protected by the Work Rule or another applicable protection.
Entering a DawnDream realm therefore means accepting the normal risks associated with DawnDream gameplay.
Masquerade Violations
Breaking the Masquerade may result in disciplinary action, including a system ban.
Intentionally exposing another player's creature identity, distributing protected scans, or revealing protected DawnDream system information may constitute a Masquerade violation.
To report a suspected Masquerade breach, players must provide clear evidence to DawnDream Administration.
Rumors, assumptions, unsupported accusations, or claims without sufficient evidence may not provide Administration with enough information to take disciplinary action.
Rule 4 – Allowed Devices & Invisibility
To ensure fair combat and prevent the use of external advantages, DawnDream follows a strict policy regarding devices and tools that may be used during PvP.
Allowed Devices
During DawnDream combat, the following devices are permitted:
- Official DawnDream HUD for your race.
- Followers used normally, provided they are not being used to push, move, trap, or otherwise manipulate another player.
- Speed Boosters used to increase normal movement speed.
- Auto-Face systems used to automatically face or orient toward a combat target.
- Standard Second Life movement controls and normal viewer functions that do not provide any additional combat advantage beyond those specifically allowed above.
Any combat device, HUD, attachment, macro, scripted tool, or external assistance not included in the list above is prohibited during DawnDream combat.
Devices must never be used to forcibly move another resident in order to bypass protections. This includes pushing or moving AFK players out of protected homes, skyboxes, safe locations, or similar areas for the purpose of attacking them.
If a device is not listed above as allowed, players should assume that it cannot be used during combat unless specifically authorized by DawnDream Administration.
No Invisibility During Combat
NO INVISIBILITY IS ALLOWED WHILE ENGAGED IN COMBAT.
A player may not attack another player while invisible in any form. This includes alpha invisibility, invisible attachments, cloaking systems, or any other method that makes the avatar invisible, even if the avatar's name remains visible.
If you are invisible and another player initiates an attack against you, you must immediately choose one of the following:
- Remove the invisibility and become fully visible before fighting back; or
- Teleport away from the situation.
You may not retaliate, attack, or continue combat while invisible.
Becoming invisible during an active fight in order to escape targeting, reposition yourself, gain an advantage, or continue attacking is also prohibited.
Combat Assistance
Auto-clickers, macros, griefing tools, freezing devices, pushing devices, or similar scripted advantages are not permitted for combat.
Normal running, jumping, flying, and movement through the Second Life viewer remain permitted unless another DawnDream rule or specific event establishes different restrictions.
The principle is simple: DawnDream combat must be decided by the players, their official DawnDream abilities, and their strategy — not by third-party combat tools.
Violations
Using an unauthorized device to gain a combat advantage, interfere with another resident, bypass a protected location, or manipulate another player may result in disciplinary action.
When in doubt about whether a particular device is permitted, players should ask DawnDream Administration before using it in combat.
Rule 5 — Community Behavior
DawnDream expects players to maintain a basic level of respect toward one another.
At the same time, not every rude comment, disagreement, argument, or insult automatically constitutes a Rule 5 violation.
Players are encouraged not to engage with insulting behavior. When appropriate, mute the individual and report serious incidents to Linden Lab.
Rule 5 applies when behavior becomes repeated, targeted, unwanted, threatening, intimidating, or harassing.
Examples may include:
- Repeated personal attacks against the same player.
- Continuing unwanted contact after being asked to stop.
- Repeatedly provoking or intimidating another player.
- Threatening or coercive behavior.
- Repeated attempts to humiliate or publicly target someone.
- Attempting to drive another player out of DawnDream through harassment.
- Encouraging other people to target or harass someone.
- Repeatedly pursuing another player in order to continue a personal conflict.
- A continuing pattern of harassment across different interactions.
The important distinction is the pattern and nature of the behavior, rather than simply whether an insult occurred.
What Is Generally NOT Rule 5
The following situations, by themselves, are generally not processed as Rule 5 violations:
- A single insult such as "idiot," "asshole," or "jerk."
- A personal disagreement.
- An argument between players.
- Mutual insults during a heated dispute.
- Saying that you dislike another player.
- A single rude comment.
- Isolated trash talk during combat or competition.
- Calling someone "chicken," "coward," or "weak" during a fight.
For example:
"You're an idiot. I'm done talking to you."
This is not automatically a Rule 5 violation.
DawnDream discourages unnecessary hostility, but being rude and engaging in harassment are not automatically the same thing.
Combat, Competition & Roleplay
Players are expected to maintain basic respect during combat, competition, rivalries, events, and roleplay.
An isolated taunt or insult during competitive gameplay is not automatically processed under Rule 5.
For example:
"You're a chicken."
This statement alone is not automatically Rule 5.
However, if the behavior develops into repeated targeting, intimidation, unwanted contact, or harassment, Administration may evaluate the complete pattern under Rule 5.
Roleplay, combat, rivalry, or competition may not be used as an excuse for genuine harassment.
Rule 6 — Discrimination
DawnDream does not tolerate discriminatory behavior within its community.
Rule 6 applies when another person is targeted, degraded, excluded, or attacked because of a personal characteristic, including:
- Race or ethnicity
- Nationality
- Gender
- Religion
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Other comparable personal characteristics
Unlike Rule 5, discriminatory conduct does not necessarily need to be repeated before it may become relevant to Rule 6.
For example:
"I don't like you because you're [nationality/race]."
This may constitute a Rule 6 violation.
Using a racial slur against another player may also constitute a Rule 6 violation.
Repeated discriminatory attacks based upon gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation, or another protected characteristic may potentially violate both Rule 5 and Rule 6.
Rule 5 vs. Rule 6
| Rule | Primary Focus |
|---|---|
| Rule 5 | Harassment, intimidation, threats, repeated targeting, unwanted contact, coercion, or attempts to drive another player away. |
| Rule 6 | Targeting, degrading, attacking, or excluding someone because of a personal characteristic. |
A situation may violate both rules.
For example, repeated harassment directed at someone because of their nationality may involve both discriminatory conduct under Rule 6 and a continuing pattern of harassment under Rule 5.
Context & Evidence
DawnDream Administration evaluates reports according to the overall circumstances rather than judging incidents solely from a single sentence taken out of context.
Relevant considerations may include:
- Whether the incident was isolated or repeated.
- Whether a particular person was being targeted.
- Whether the behavior was unwanted.
- Whether someone asked the other person to stop.
- Whether the conduct continued afterward.
- Whether the situation escalated.
- Whether threats or intimidation were involved.
- Whether discriminatory conduct was involved.
- The severity and context of the behavior.
- Whether there is evidence of an ongoing pattern.
Relevant evidence may include communications, screenshots, witnesses, or other available information.
Private communications are not automatically DawnDream violations simply because they occurred privately. However, private communications may be considered when they provide evidence of harassment, threats, discrimination, intimidation, or a continuing pattern of behavior affecting the DawnDream community.
Administration will evaluate the available evidence and context before determining whether DawnDream disciplinary action is appropriate.
Linden Lab Reporting
DawnDream rules do not replace the Second Life Terms of Service or Community Standards.
When appropriate, players are encouraged to mute individuals they do not wish to interact with and report serious violations of Second Life policies directly to Linden Lab.
Players may also notify DawnDream Administration when the behavior affects the DawnDream community or potentially violates DawnDream rules.
DawnDream Administration handles DawnDream matters.
Linden Lab remains responsible for enforcement of Second Life platform policies.
Quick Guide
| Situation | General Interpretation |
|---|---|
| Single rude comment | Not automatically Rule 5 |
| Personal disagreement or argument | Not automatically Rule 5 |
| Isolated combat trash talk | Not automatically Rule 5 |
| Repeated targeted and unwanted behavior | May constitute Rule 5 |
| Threats or intimidation | May constitute Rule 5 |
| Repeated attempts to drive someone from the community | May constitute Rule 5 |
| Discriminatory attack based on a personal characteristic | May constitute Rule 6 even from a single incident |
| Repeated harassment involving discrimination | May constitute both Rule 5 and Rule 6 |
| Revealing another player's creature identity | Potential Rule 3 / Masquerade violation |
| Sharing another player's DawnDream scan | Potential Rule 3 / Masquerade violation |
Remember:
Rude does not automatically mean harassment.
An argument does not automatically mean Rule 5.
An isolated insult does not automatically mean Rule 5.
Repeated, targeted, and unwanted behavior may become Rule 5.
Discriminatory behavior may fall under Rule 6 even when it occurs once.
Harassment involving discrimination may fall under both Rule 5 and Rule 6.
Context, severity, frequency, evidence, and pattern determine how a situation is evaluated.
Rule 7 – No Attacking While Working or at Charity Events
Hosts, DJs, bloggers, creators, and other residents performing legitimate work-related duties are protected from attacks, griefing, and harassment while actively working. Attacking residents during an active charity event is also strictly forbidden.
Working Status
A work tag alone does not automatically grant protection.
To be considered actively working, a resident must:
- Wear the appropriate work tag for the role they are performing.
- Be actively engaged in that work.
- Be in the appropriate location or using the appropriate platform associated with that work.
Work Tag + Active Work + Appropriate Context = Working Protection
If these conditions are not met, the resident is considered to be participating in normal gameplay and is not protected under this rule.
Hosts and DJs
Hosts and DJs are considered actively working when they:
- Are at the club, venue, or event location where they are performing their duties.
- Wear the appropriate Host or DJ work tag.
- Are actively performing their role.
- Have their tip jar active when a tip jar is normally part of their work.
Simply wearing a Host or DJ tag while socializing, participating in gameplay, or remaining at a venue without actively performing the role does not provide protection.
Bloggers
Bloggers are considered actively working when they:
- Wear the appropriate Blogger work tag.
- Are actively creating content, taking photographs, using photo booths, or otherwise visibly performing their blogging duties.
- Are using an appropriate photography location, platform, or setting connected to their work.
Simply wearing a Blogger tag while socializing, exploring, roleplaying, or participating in normal gameplay does not constitute working.
Creators
Creators are considered actively working when they:
- Wear the appropriate Creator work tag.
- Are actively creating, building, decorating, preparing, or otherwise performing their creator duties on an appropriate working platform.
- Are actively setting up or preparing an event when appropriate to their creator role.
The work must be reasonably apparent from the circumstances. A Creator tag alone does not provide working protection.
Other Work Roles
Other legitimate work roles may also receive protection under this rule.
The resident must wear the appropriate work tag and actively perform duties associated with that role. The tag must correspond with the activity being performed, and the circumstances must reasonably demonstrate that the resident is genuinely working.
Charity Events
Attacking during charity events is strictly forbidden.
Charity events are organized to support people facing difficult circumstances, including illness, hardship, or other serious situations. Residents are expected to show kindness and respect and help maintain a peaceful and positive atmosphere.
This protection applies while the charity event is actively taking place.
Important Clarification
This rule does not provide blanket protection simply because someone is wearing a work tag.
The basic requirement is:
Work Tag + Active Work + Appropriate Context = Working Protection
If a resident has stopped working and is participating in normal gameplay, roleplay, combat, social activities, or unrelated activities, the working protection no longer applies.
Likewise, work tags must not be used simply as a way to avoid combat or obtain protection while participating in normal DawnDream gameplay.
Reporting Violations rule 7
Reports may include:
- Attacking, griefing, or harassing someone who is genuinely working.
- Attacking residents during an active charity event.
- Misusing a work tag to improperly claim protection from normal gameplay.
Violations may result in a warning, removal, or ban from the DawnDream game, depending on the circumstances and severity of the violation.
Respect those who are working. Respect charity events. Use work tags responsibly.
Final Notice
The purpose of these rules is not to prevent competition, conflict, combat, rivalry, or roleplay. These are important parts of the DawnDream experience.
The purpose is to establish a clear boundary between gameplay conflict and genuine harmful behavior.
Fight your enemies.
Defend your Clan, House, Horde, Pack, or Bloodline.
Build rivalries.
Compete.
Roleplay.
But remember that behind every creature in DawnDream is another person.
Protect the Masquerade. Respect the Realm. Honor the Dream.
