Raven
Raven Companion
"Bound by blood. Strengthened by loyalty. Forged in the night."
Overview
The Raven Companion is a special familiar created exclusively for Vampires in DawnDream. Far more than a cosmetic companion, the Raven is a living progression system capable of growing alongside its Vampire owner, developing new abilities, hunting for valuable resources, assisting in combat, and even restoring Blood when its master is wounded.
Every Raven begins its journey with limited strength and abilities. Through care, interaction, training, and progression, the familiar gradually becomes more powerful. Experienced Ravens can unlock specialized combat powers and become valuable allies to their Vampire owners.
The Raven can reach a maximum of Level 10. Reaching this level represents a fully developed familiar and provides access to the Raven's most advanced abilities.
Raven Status
Every Raven possesses its own progression and status information. Through the Self Scan option, Vampires can examine the current condition and development of their familiar.

Level and Experience
Ravens progress through a total of 10 Levels. Experience is gained through participation in Raven activities, allowing the familiar to gradually develop over time.
Progression is intentionally designed to become increasingly demanding. Higher Levels require considerably more experience, meaning that a powerful high-level Raven represents significant dedication from its owner.
Level progression is also directly connected to the Raven's abilities. Certain powers require the familiar to reach a specific Level before they can be learned, while other abilities become stronger as the Raven develops.
Level 10 represents the highest stage of Raven progression and provides access to its ultimate abilities.
Raven Healing
One of the Raven's primary abilities is Healing.
A Raven can restore Blood to its Vampire owner, providing valuable assistance when its master has been injured.
The amount of Blood restored depends on the Raven's Level.
Higher Level = Stronger Healing
As the familiar develops, its healing becomes increasingly effective, making experienced Ravens particularly valuable during dangerous situations.
Blood Gem Hunt
Ravens possess the ability to search for a rare vampiric resource known as Blood Gems.
A Vampire may send their familiar on a Blood Gem Hunt, allowing the Raven to search for these valuable resources.
Success, however, is never guaranteed.
A Raven may successfully return with a Blood Gem, encounter complications during its expedition, or return without finding anything. Blood Gem hunting is therefore part of the Raven's long-term progression and resource system rather than a guaranteed source of materials.
Blood Gems become particularly important as the Raven grows because they are required to unlock its special powers.
Mood, Affection and Care
A Raven is a familiar that must be cared for.
Interactions between Vampire and Raven can influence both Mood and Affection. Petting, caring for, and spending time with the familiar strengthens the relationship between them.
Neglect may leave the Raven in a less favorable mood, while regular interaction helps maintain the bond.
The Raven system is therefore not based exclusively on combat or progression. The relationship between Vampire and familiar is also an important part of raising the companion.
Raven Powers
As a Raven becomes stronger, it gains access to specialized supernatural abilities. These powers range from direct attacks to defensive and tactical abilities.
Powers are not automatically granted simply by reaching the required Level. They must first be learned using Blood Gems.
| Power | Required Level | Blood Gem Cost | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Talon Rend | Level 1 | 100 | Offensive |
| Bloodfeud Strike | Level 3 | 200 | Offensive |
| Deathwing | Level 4 | 250 | Offensive |
| Shadowfeather Veil | Level 5 | 300 | Defensive |
| Stunning Talon | Level 6 | 400 | Tactical / Offensive |
| Ironfeather Ward | Level 8 | 500 | Defensive |

Learning Powers
Special Raven abilities must be permanently learned before they can be used.
Open LEARN POWERS from the Raven HUD to access the available abilities. The menu displays each Raven Power together with its required Level and Blood Gem cost.
To learn a power, the Raven must meet the required Level and the Vampire must possess the necessary resources.
Once these requirements are satisfied, the ability can be unlocked permanently.
Equipping Powers
Learning a Raven Power does not automatically equip it.
Open EQUIP POWERS from the Raven HUD to view abilities that have already been learned.
From there, the Vampire can select which powers the Raven should have equipped. An equipped ability is identified by:
[EQ]
This system allows owners to customize their Raven according to the role they want their familiar to perform, including offensive, defensive, or tactical configurations.
Blood Gems and Progression
Blood Gems are an important part of Raven progression because increasingly powerful abilities require increasingly greater investments.
The first Raven ability requires 100 Blood Gems, while the ultimate Level 10 ability, Raven's Fury, requires 600 Blood Gems.
For this reason, developing a powerful Raven is intended to be a long-term achievement. Owners must raise their familiar, participate in its activities, hunt for Blood Gems, and decide which powers they wish to unlock.
Growing With Your Raven
The Raven Companion is designed as a long-term progression system for Vampires.
Care for it.
Train it.
Send it hunting.
Collect Blood Gems.
Unlock new abilities.
Strengthen its bond with you.
A Raven begins as a familiar, but through dedication it can become something far more powerful: a hunter, protector, healer, and supernatural companion that has grown alongside its Vampire.
The stronger the Raven becomes, the stronger the bond between Vampire and Familiar becomes.
