Chronicle IV — The Bloody Wars

The Age of Crimson Ruin — When Immortality Learned to Fear Death

"The First War divided the vampire world. The Bloody Wars taught it to fear its own destruction."

The Peace That Was Never Peace

The World After the Crimson Schism

Centuries had passed since the conclusion of the First War, yet the wounds left by the Crimson Schism had never truly healed. The immortal world had survived its first great division, and the Eternal Throne continued to stand as the central institution of vampiric civilization. Under the authority of Lavínia, the Bloodlines loyal to the Throne expanded their influence throughout the kingdoms of mankind, establishing new Clans, Houses, and sanctuaries that preserved the ancient traditions of the First Blood.

Beyond the authority of the Eternal Court, the Hordes continued to exist as independent organizations. Their ancestors had rejected the political supremacy of the Eternal Throne, and their descendants preserved that independence as an essential part of their identity. Some Hordes maintained peaceful relations with loyalist Clans, while others regarded the Throne with suspicion and resentment. The Outcasts, meanwhile, remained scattered across the mortal world, refusing allegiance to either faction and surviving through secrecy, isolation, or temporary alliances.

The peace established after the First War had prevented the complete destruction of vampiric civilization, but it had not eliminated the ambitions of the ancient Bloodlines. Powerful Arch Vampires governed territories that extended across mortal kingdoms, and their influence often exceeded that of the human monarchs who ruled beneath the Sun. Some maintained vast networks of servants and descendants, while others controlled ancient fortresses whose foundations had been laid long before the rise of the civilizations surrounding them.

Over time, the memory of the First War became distorted. Loyalist chronicles described it as a rebellion against the rightful authority of the Eternal Source, while the Hordes preserved stories of ancestors who had fought for independence. Younger vampires inherited these competing interpretations without having witnessed the original conflict, and ancient grievances gradually became traditions passed from sire to descendant.

The Eternal Throne remained powerful, but beneath its apparent stability, the immortal realm was once again approaching an age of catastrophe.

The Pride of the Ancient Blood

Among the oldest vampires, a dangerous belief began to spread. Several Arch Vampires had survived for millennia, accumulating extraordinary supernatural abilities, political influence, and military strength. Their descendants regarded them as nearly divine figures, and their authority within their Bloodlines was rarely questioned.

Some began to wonder whether the Eternal Source still possessed the overwhelming power attributed to her by the earliest chronicles.

Lavínia had rarely intervened directly in the disputes of her descendants. She governed through the Eternal Court and entrusted the preservation of order to the Sentinels and the recognized Arch Vampires. Her restraint had prevented countless conflicts from escalating into open warfare, but certain ancient vampires interpreted her absence from the battlefield as evidence that her power had diminished.

Others believed that the Eternal Throne had become dependent upon the loyalty of the Bloodlines rather than the strength of its sovereign.

These assumptions would eventually lead to one of the greatest mistakes in the history of the First Blood.

For while the descendants of Lavínia had spent centuries mastering their supernatural gifts, the Eternal Source remained the origin from which those gifts had emerged.

And the oldest blood had never revealed the full extent of its power.

The First Arch Vampires

Angelika of the Tzmisce Bloodline

Long before the Bloody Wars, when the earliest Bloodlines were still establishing their identities, one vampire had risen above the emerging generations of immortals.

Angelika, of the Tzmisce Bloodline.

Recognized as the First Arch Vampire, Angelika belonged to the earliest generation of leaders who helped transform the scattered descendants of the Eternal Source into an organized civilization. Her elevation to the rank of Arch established a precedent that would influence the structure of the Bloodlines for centuries to come.

The Tzmisce Bloodline became renowned for its ancient knowledge, formidable discipline, and extraordinary understanding of vampiric nature. Under Angelika's leadership, its descendants preserved traditions that reached back to the earliest ages of the immortal world. Her authority was not based solely upon supernatural strength, but upon centuries of experience, political judgment, and an intimate understanding of the responsibilities carried by those who governed other immortals.

Angelika had witnessed the rise of kingdoms, the collapse of empires, and the transformation of the Eternal Throne from an emerging institution into the foundation of vampiric civilization. Few Arch Vampires possessed a comparable knowledge of the ancient world, and fewer still could claim to remember the Eternal Source before the Throne had acquired its legendary reputation.

Her relationship with Lavínia was defined by profound respect rather than unquestioning agreement. Angelika believed in the necessity of the Eternal Throne, but she also understood the dangers of concentrating too much authority within the hands of ambitious descendants. She was among the few ancient vampires capable of expressing disagreement before the Eternal Court without having her loyalty questioned.

As the Bloody Wars approached, Angelika recognized the signs of a civilization repeating the mistakes of its past.

She warned that the greatest threat to the First Blood would not come from mortal kingdoms, hunters, or creatures beyond the boundaries of vampiric society.

It would come from the immortals themselves.

Wodan of the Aesir Blood of Ragnarok

Among the other ancient Arch Vampires stood Wodan, patriarch of The Aesir Blood of Ragnarok, a Bloodline whose traditions were deeply connected to the ancient peoples of the northern world.

The chronicles describe Wodan as a warrior of exceptional strength and determination, a leader whose reputation had been forged through centuries of conflict. His descendants inherited traditions of loyalty, endurance, and martial discipline, while the legends surrounding his Bloodline became intertwined with the myths of northern gods, ravens, and the final destruction of the world.

The name Ragnarok became more than a reference to ancient prophecy. Within the Bloodline, it represented the understanding that even the greatest kingdoms could fall, and that strength existed not merely to conquer, but to endure the destruction that inevitably followed unchecked ambition.

Wodan believed that peace required the ability to defend it. Where Angelika favored diplomacy and the preservation of ancient knowledge, Wodan regarded military strength as an essential foundation of survival.

Their approaches differed, but their loyalty to the Eternal Source united them.

Wodan's relationship with Lavínia would eventually earn him a place of extraordinary importance within the Eternal Court. His reputation as a guardian of the Throne and defender of its sovereign would become inseparable from the title by which later generations remembered him:

The Shadow of the Source.

Yet before that legacy could be fully established, Wodan would be forced to confront a war that threatened to destroy the very civilization he had sworn to protect.

The War of the Empty Thrones

The Disappearance of the Seven Arch Vampires

The first signs of the approaching catastrophe emerged when seven ancient Arch Vampires disappeared within a single generation. Each had governed a powerful Bloodline, and their sudden absence created uncertainty throughout the immortal realm.

Their sanctuaries were found abandoned, their personal guardians missing, and their descendants unable to explain what had happened. In several cases, there were no signs of battle. Ceremonial chambers remained undisturbed, ancient relics were left untouched, and only certain manuscripts appeared to have been deliberately removed.

The Eternal Court ordered an investigation, but the surviving evidence was insufficient to establish a common explanation.

Rumors spread that Vaelthar, the legendary Uncrowned who had led the rebellion during the First War, had returned to destroy the political order established by Lavínia. Others claimed that the Eternal Throne itself had secretly eliminated powerful Bloodlines that had become too independent.

Angelika rejected the accusations. She warned that the disappearances possessed similarities too precise to be dismissed as coincidence, and she believed that an unknown force might be deliberately destabilizing the ancient Bloodlines.

Wodan shared her concerns, although he argued that the immediate priority should be the protection of the surviving Arch Vampires and their territories.

Their warnings were not universally accepted.

The Wars of Succession

Without their ancient leaders, the affected Bloodlines descended into disputes over succession. Descendants who had served together for centuries began competing for authority, while rival Houses attempted to seize territories that had previously been protected by the missing Arch Vampires.

Some Bloodlines resolved their disputes peacefully, but others descended into violence. Younger vampires challenged their elders, Houses declared independence, and neighboring Clans formed alliances intended to strengthen their positions.

The conflict became known as the War of the Empty Thrones.

Angelika attempted to preserve the continuity of the affected Bloodlines by organizing negotiations between rival descendants. She believed that the destruction of an ancient lineage represented a loss that could never be restored, regardless of which faction emerged victorious.

Wodan, meanwhile, organized defensive forces to protect vulnerable territories from opportunistic invasions. His warriors escorted refugees, secured ancient sanctuaries, and prevented several smaller Bloodlines from being destroyed during the succession struggles.

But the violence continued to spread.

The disappearance of seven Arch Vampires had created a void that ambition was eager to fill.

The War of Ashen Sanctuaries

The Fire That Should Not Exist

As the succession conflicts intensified, ancient vampiric sanctuaries began to burn under mysterious circumstances.

The flames were unlike ordinary fire. Witnesses described a pale, almost celestial light that consumed immortal flesh while leaving surrounding stone and ceremonial objects largely untouched. Entire sanctuaries were discovered abandoned, their defenders reduced to ashes without evidence of conventional battle.

The phenomenon became known as Ashen Fire.

The attacks affected loyalist Clans, rebellious Hordes, and independent Bloodlines alike. No faction appeared entirely safe, and the destruction of ancient sanctuaries intensified the suspicion already dividing the immortal world.

Scholars of the Eternal Court began investigating whether the mysterious flames possessed a celestial origin. Ancient manuscripts preserved references to the Flaming Sword of the Cherubim, the sacred fire that had guarded the gates of Eden, and to Azhariel, the fallen Seraphim whose corrupted blood had given birth to the Crimson Tree.

Although no evidence established a direct connection, the possibility that celestial power could be manipulated against vampires terrified the surviving Bloodlines.

Angelika and the Crimson Vigil

One of the most celebrated episodes of the Bloody Wars occurred when Angelika learned that an ancient sanctuary sheltering hundreds of vampires had become the target of a powerful alliance.

The refuge contained descendants from several Bloodlines, including young vampires whose Houses had been destroyed during the succession conflicts. Its guardians lacked the strength to withstand a prolonged assault, and the destruction of the sanctuary would have eliminated some of the last surviving branches of several ancient families.

Angelika traveled to the sanctuary and assumed command of its defense.

The confrontation became known as the Crimson Vigil.

For nine consecutive nights, Angelika and the defenders resisted repeated attacks. Her mastery of ancient vampiric disciplines allowed her to confront enemies whose combined strength greatly exceeded that of the sanctuary's remaining guardians.

Yet her greatest achievement was not the destruction of her opponents. It was the preservation of those who had sought refuge beneath her protection.

When the attackers finally withdrew, hundreds of vampires remained alive who might otherwise have suffered Final Death.

The Crimson Vigil transformed Angelika into a symbol of endurance throughout the immortal realm. Her actions demonstrated that the authority of an Arch Vampire carried responsibilities beyond conquest, territorial control, or personal glory.

Among the surviving descendants, a title emerged in her honor:

Angelika, the Crimson Matriarch.

The War of a Thousand Nights

The Collapse of the Ancient Peace

The destruction of the sanctuaries shattered the remaining trust between the great factions of the immortal realm.

What had begun as disputes over succession evolved into a widespread war involving Clans, Hordes, independent Bloodlines, and alliances whose loyalties changed according to circumstance.

The conflict became known as the War of a Thousand Nights.

For a thousand nights, the immortal world endured continuous campaigns of violence. Ancient fortresses were besieged, hidden cities were abandoned, and mortal kingdoms became unwilling participants in struggles they could not comprehend.

The laws established by the Eternal Throne were increasingly ignored. Some factions began targeting entire Bloodlines rather than individual enemies, believing that the destruction of a lineage would permanently eliminate future threats.

The practice represented a profound violation of the principles established after the First War.

The blood of the immortals, once considered a sacred inheritance from the Eternal Source, had become an instrument of vengeance.

Wodan and the March of the Black Ravens

As the war spread into the northern territories, Wodan assembled the warriors of The Aesir Blood of Ragnarok and began a campaign intended to recover sanctuaries that had fallen beneath the control of hostile forces.

The campaign became known as the March of the Black Ravens.

Wodan's armies advanced through territories devastated by years of conflict, recovering ancient fortresses and establishing protected passages through which surviving vampires could escape the destruction.

His warriors became renowned for their discipline and refusal to abandon wounded companions. Their banners, marked by the symbols of the Aesir Bloodline, became a source of hope to loyalist communities threatened by the expanding war.

But the campaign was not without tragedy.

Wodan witnessed the destruction of ancient companions and the disappearance of descendants whose names had been preserved within his Bloodline for centuries. Each victory came at a cost, and the war gradually transformed even the most experienced warriors.

The chronicles describe Wodan standing among the ruins of a recovered fortress, surrounded by the remains of vampires who had once fought beside him.

It was there that he reportedly declared:

"Strength is not measured by how many enemies we destroy, but by how many of our own we refuse to abandon."

The words became an enduring principle among the warriors of his Bloodline.

The Council of the Last Blood

The Gathering Before the Eternal Source

As the destruction continued, Lavínia summoned Angelika, Wodan, the Sentinels, and representatives of the surviving Bloodlines to an extraordinary gathering before the Eternal Throne.

The assembly became known as the Council of the Last Blood.

The Eternal Source demanded an account of the devastation that had consumed the immortal realm. Reports described entire Bloodlines reduced to a handful of descendants, sanctuaries destroyed by unknown forces, and territories where no vampires remained alive.

Angelika warned that the continuation of the war threatened the survival of vampiric civilization itself. She argued that the Eternal Court should establish protected sanctuaries, negotiate with independent factions, and preserve the remaining ancient knowledge before it disappeared forever.

Wodan agreed that the Bloodlines must be preserved, but maintained that negotiations alone would not end the violence. He believed that those responsible for the massacres had to be defeated before any lasting peace could be established.

The disagreement between the two Arch Vampires reflected the dilemma facing the Eternal Throne.

Angelika sought to save what remained.

Wodan sought to destroy what threatened it.

Lavínia understood that both were necessary.

She authorized the protection of neutral sanctuaries while permitting military campaigns against factions that continued pursuing the extermination of entire Bloodlines.

But the Eternal Source remained reluctant to enter the battlefield herself.

She still hoped that her descendants might recognize the consequences of their actions before the destruction became irreversible.

The Valley of Crimson Rivers

The Gathering of the Seven Banners

The most devastating battle of the Bloody Wars occurred within an ancient valley crossed by three great rivers.

Seven powerful military alliances converged upon the region, each seeking control of the surrounding territories. Their armies included warriors from loyalist Clans, rebellious Hordes, independent Bloodlines, and mercenary groups whose allegiance had been purchased through promises of power.

The gathering became known as the Seven Banners.

For consecutive nights, the armies fought across the valley. Ancient vampires unleashed supernatural abilities against their enemies, while younger warriors struggled to survive battles whose scale exceeded anything they had previously witnessed.

The surrounding forests burned, fortifications collapsed, and the rivers became stained with the blood of the immortals.

The region would forever be remembered as the Valley of Crimson Rivers.

The Fall of the Aesir Warriors

Wodan entered the battle commanding warriors of The Aesir Blood of Ragnarok. His forces fought to secure passages through which loyalist survivors could retreat, but the scale of the conflict soon exceeded even his expectations.

Enemy armies converged upon the northern approaches, overwhelming several defensive positions. Ancient warriors who had survived centuries of conflict fell beneath the combined attacks of rival Bloodlines.

For the first time in generations, Wodan was forced to confront the possibility that his own Bloodline might be destroyed.

Rather than sacrificing the remaining warriors in a hopeless attempt to hold the valley, he ordered a withdrawal.

The decision was painful, but it preserved the surviving strength of the Aesir Bloodline.

Later chronicles would describe the retreat not as a defeat, but as one of Wodan's greatest acts of leadership. He had chosen the survival of his descendants over the glory of a final stand.

The Mourning of the First Arch

Angelika arrived in the aftermath of the battle, accompanied by survivors of the Tzmisce Bloodline.

The devastation exceeded anything she had witnessed during her long existence. Ancient Bloodlines had been shattered, and the valley was filled with the remains of immortals whose histories stretched across generations.

Angelika ordered the recovery of surviving warriors regardless of their political allegiance. Loyalist vampires, Horde members, and independent descendants were brought to protected sanctuaries where they could recover from their wounds.

Her actions angered several commanders who believed that enemies should be abandoned to their fate.

Angelika refused.

She reminded them that every vampire, regardless of allegiance, carried the inheritance of the First Blood.

The chronicles preserve her words:

"We have spent centuries dividing ourselves by banners, crowns, and ancient oaths. Yet beneath every banner flows the same blood. If we destroy it all, what victory shall remain?"

The Battle of the Crimson Rivers became a turning point in the war.

But the greatest catastrophe had yet to come.

The Conspiracy of the Seven Crowns

The Arch Vampires Who Challenged Eternity

During the final stages of the War of a Thousand Nights, seven ancient Arch Vampires formed a secret alliance whose purpose extended beyond territorial conquest or political independence.

They intended to overthrow Lavínia herself.

These elders believed that the Bloody Wars had weakened the Eternal Throne beyond recovery. Countless loyalist warriors had been destroyed, the authority of the Eternal Court had been challenged repeatedly, and the surviving Bloodlines were exhausted by centuries of conflict.

More importantly, they believed that the Eternal Source had become unwilling or unable to exercise the full extent of her power.

For centuries, Lavínia had governed through the Sentinels, the Eternal Court, and the recognized Arch Vampires. She had rarely entered the battlefield personally, preferring to preserve her descendants rather than destroy them.

The conspirators interpreted her restraint as weakness.

They became known as the Seven Crowns, a title derived from their belief that no single throne should stand above the authority of the oldest Bloodlines.

Their plan was to gather the strongest surviving warriors beneath their command and confront Lavínia directly.

They believed that if the Eternal Source could be destroyed, the authority of the Eternal Throne would collapse, allowing the ancient Arch Vampires to divide the immortal world among themselves.

The Warning of Angelika and Wodan

When the conspiracy was discovered, Angelika and Wodan were among the first ancient Arch Vampires summoned before the Eternal Source.

Angelika warned that the Seven Crowns were committing an act of extraordinary arrogance. Having witnessed the earliest generations of vampiric civilization, she understood that the power of the Eternal Source could not be measured according to the abilities of her descendants.

Wodan urged immediate military action. He argued that the conspirators had already crossed the boundary between political rebellion and an attempt to destroy the origin of their own existence.

Yet Lavínia refused to order their immediate destruction.

She summoned the conspirators and offered them one final opportunity to abandon their plans.

The Seven Crowns refused.

Their leader declared that the age of the First Blood had ended and that the future belonged to those strong enough to claim it.

Angelika remained silent, recognizing the terrible mistake they had made.

Wodan prepared his warriors for battle.

And the immortal realm approached the most feared night in its history.

The Night of the Eternal Wrath

The Awakening of the First Blood

The confrontation occurred beneath a darkened sky, upon a battlefield already scarred by the devastation of the Bloody Wars.

The Seven Crowns assembled their strongest warriors, believing that their combined power would be sufficient to overcome the Eternal Source.

Among their forces were ancient vampires who had survived centuries of warfare, masters of supernatural disciplines whose abilities had become legendary.

Lavínia arrived before the assembled armies.

Angelika and Wodan stood among those who had remained loyal to the Eternal Throne, prepared to defend their sovereign against the conspirators.

But the Eternal Source ordered them not to intervene.

For the final time, she offered the Seven Crowns an opportunity to surrender.

They refused.

What followed became known as the Night of the Eternal Wrath.

According to the Testament of the Crimson Night, the moment Lavínia ceased restraining the essence of the First Blood, every vampire present felt an extraordinary disturbance within their own body.

The blood that sustained their immortality seemed to awaken in recognition of its origin.

Some warriors fell to their knees, overwhelmed by a force they could neither understand nor resist. Others found themselves unable to move, as though the celestial essence within their veins had turned against their own will.

The air grew heavy, and the surviving witnesses described the sensation of standing before something older and more terrible than any vampire they had ever encountered.

For the first time, the immortal realm witnessed the true power of the Eternal Source.

The Fall of the Seven Crowns

The seven Arch Vampires launched their attack together.

The chronicles disagree upon the precise nature of the battle. Some describe a storm of crimson energy that consumed the battlefield, while others claim that Lavínia manipulated the blood of her enemies directly, rendering their supernatural strength useless against her.

A few surviving accounts suggest that the Eternal Source possessed an ability unknown to every other vampire: the power to command the corrupted celestial essence from which their immortality had originated.

Whatever the truth, the result was absolute.

The Seven Crowns were destroyed.

Not one of the conspirators survived the confrontation.

The warriors who continued attacking suffered the same fate. Ancient vampires who had believed themselves invincible were reduced to ashes, while entire formations collapsed beneath a power that appeared to recognize no distinction between age, rank, or supernatural ability.

The massacre continued until the remaining forces abandoned their weapons and surrendered.

For the first time in centuries, the battlefield fell silent.

The surviving chronicles disagree upon the number of vampires destroyed that night. Some estimate several hundred, while others claim that the dead numbered in the thousands.

The Eternal Court never released an official account of the casualties.

What remained unquestioned was that seven of the most powerful Arch Vampires in existence had challenged the Eternal Source.

And none had survived.

The Testimony of the First Arch Vampire

Angelika had witnessed countless demonstrations of supernatural power throughout her existence, yet nothing she had seen resembled the events of the Eternal Wrath.

She had known Lavínia since the earliest ages of vampiric civilization and understood that the Eternal Source possessed abilities beyond those of her descendants.

But even Angelika had never witnessed the full extent of that power.

The chronicles preserve a statement attributed to the First Arch Vampire:

"I was the first to bear the title of Arch. I have watched kings become dust and empires surrender to time. Yet on that night, I learned that even eternity has a sovereign."

For Angelika, the destruction of the Seven Crowns represented a terrible necessity rather than a triumph.

She understood that Lavínia had acted to prevent the destruction of the immortal realm, but she also recognized the tragedy of witnessing the First Blood turn against its own descendants.

The Crimson Matriarch would later become one of the principal voices advocating the preservation of the surviving Bloodlines and the creation of laws intended to prevent another catastrophe.

Wodan and the Shadow of the Source

Wodan had entered the battlefield prepared to defend the Eternal Source with the remaining strength of his Bloodline.

But when Lavínia unleashed the power of the First Blood, he understood that his armies were not the final defense of the Throne.

The Eternal Source herself was.

The chronicles describe Wodan standing among the surviving warriors, watching as the Seven Crowns and their armies were destroyed by a power that surpassed anything he had encountered throughout centuries of warfare.

He later declared:

"I have seen the wrath of kings, the fury of wolves, and the fall of empires. But what I witnessed that night was neither war nor vengeance. It was the First Blood remembering its power."

The events of the Eternal Wrath transformed Wodan's understanding of his own duty.

He recognized that the purpose of his strength was not to defend Lavínia from enemies she could not defeat, but to preserve the order she had created so that she would never again be forced to unleash such devastation upon her descendants.

His service during the Bloody Wars strengthened his position within the Eternal Court and became a defining part of the legacy associated with his title:

The Shadow of the Source.

The Judgment of the Eternal Source

The Assembly of the Surviving Bloodlines

Following the Night of the Eternal Wrath, Lavínia summoned the surviving representatives of the Bloodlines, Clans, Hordes, and independent communities to an extraordinary gathering before the Eternal Throne.

The assembly was unlike any that had occurred since the Crimson Convocation. Loyalist leaders stood beside representatives of the Hordes, while Outcasts who had remained outside the political structures of the immortal realm were permitted to witness the proceedings.

Angelika stood among the oldest representatives of the Bloodlines, while Wodan remained beside the defenders of the Eternal Court.

The destruction of the Seven Crowns had ended the immediate threat to the Eternal Source, but the wider Bloody Wars had left the immortal world devastated.

Lavínia addressed the gathering not as a victorious conqueror, but as the ancestor of a civilization that had nearly destroyed itself.

The oldest chronicles preserve her words:

"I have watched mankind destroy kingdoms for gold, for faith, and for crowns. But never did I imagine that my own children would spill enough blood to drown the memory of Eden."

She reminded the assembled leaders that the immortality they possessed was not an inexhaustible resource. Every Bloodline destroyed represented the permanent loss of knowledge, history, and descendants whose existence could never be restored.

The Eternal Source declared that the wars must end.

The Declaration of Eternal Supremacy

Before the gathered leaders, Lavínia reaffirmed the authority of the Eternal Throne and warned that no faction would be permitted to threaten the survival of the entire immortal realm.

She did not demand that the Hordes abandon their independence or that Outcasts swear allegiance to her Court. The political distinctions established after the First War would remain.

But she declared that no Bloodline, Clan, Horde, or independent vampire possessed the right to pursue the systematic destruction of their own kind.

The surviving manuscripts record a declaration that became one of the most feared statements in vampiric history:

"I gave you eternity. Do not mistake my mercy for weakness. For what my blood has created, my blood can also destroy."

From that moment forward, the authority of Lavínia was understood through two distinct principles.

The first was the Authority of the Eternal Throne, expressed through the laws, institutions, and political structures recognized by the loyal Bloodlines.

The second was the Authority of the First Blood, the overwhelming supernatural power possessed by the Eternal Source herself.

The Hordes could reject the political authority of the Throne, but they could not deny the power demonstrated during the Eternal Wrath.

The First War had established the political order of vampiric civilization.

The Bloody Wars had established the supremacy of its origin.

The Covenant of Ashes

The Council of the Survivors

In the aftermath of the Eternal Wrath, Angelika and Wodan participated in the negotiations intended to restore stability to the immortal realm.

Angelika argued that the preservation of the remaining Bloodlines must become the central responsibility of the Eternal Court. She proposed the protection of neutral sanctuaries, the preservation of ancient archives, and the prohibition of campaigns intended to exterminate entire lineages.

Wodan supported these principles but insisted that the agreement must also establish consequences for those who attempted to violate them. He believed that laws without the strength to enforce them would eventually become meaningless.

Their differing perspectives shaped the agreement that emerged from the negotiations.

Angelika contributed the principles of preservation and reconciliation.

Wodan contributed the principles of defense and accountability.

Lavínia gave the agreement the authority of the Eternal Throne.

The resulting covenant became known as the Covenant of Ashes.

The Laws Written After Ruin

The Covenant of Ashes established that no Bloodline could be systematically exterminated solely because of its ancestry or political allegiance. It recognized the continued existence of Clans, Hordes, and independent vampires, while establishing the protection of neutral sanctuaries during periods of negotiation.

The Covenant also condemned the deliberate creation or use of forbidden powers intended to destroy the immortal species as a whole.

This provision was influenced by the mysterious Ashen Fire and the fear that ancient celestial forces might be manipulated against the descendants of the First Blood.

The agreement did not eliminate conflict. Rivalries, territorial disputes, and individual confrontations continued to exist throughout the immortal world.

But it established a boundary that the surviving leaders understood must never again be crossed.

The destruction of the entire immortal civilization could no longer be treated as an acceptable consequence of political ambition.

The Mystery of the Crimson Reclamation

The Forbidden Manuscripts

Although the Covenant ended the organized wars, the true origins of several catastrophes remained unresolved.

The disappearance of the seven Arch Vampires, the destruction of the Ashen Sanctuaries, and the emergence of the mysterious celestial fire had never been fully explained.

During the reconstruction of ruined sanctuaries, scholars recovered fragments of manuscripts referring to a forbidden undertaking known as the Crimson Reclamation.

According to these documents, an unknown organization had sought to gather the blood of the oldest surviving Arch Vampires. The manuscripts suggested that each ancient lineage preserved a fragment of the celestial essence inherited from Lavínia, and that combining these fragments might allow the reconstruction of a power resembling the original blood of the Crimson Seraph.

Some scholars believed the ritual was intended to awaken Azhariel, the fallen Seraphim whose blood had created the Crimson Tree. Others argued that the objective was to manufacture a weapon capable of destroying even the most ancient vampires.

Angelika recognized the danger of preserving such knowledge without restrictions, while Wodan warned that any surviving members of the organization responsible might attempt to continue their work.

The Eternal Court ordered the recovered documents sealed within restricted archives.

No surviving evidence established whether the Crimson Reclamation had actually been performed.

The mystery remained unsolved.

The Dawn Greetings

The Survivors of the Endless Night

In the generations following the Bloody Wars, the surviving vampires began developing traditions intended to honor those who had endured the catastrophe.

Among the oldest communities, a simple greeting emerged between companions who encountered one another after a dangerous night.

Dawn Greetings.

The expression was not a celebration of sunlight, which remained associated with danger and the natural world from which vampires had become separated. Instead, it represented the recognition that another night had passed and that those who exchanged the greeting had survived.

During the Bloody Wars, countless vampires had departed their sanctuaries without knowing whether they would ever return. Friends disappeared, Houses were destroyed, and entire Bloodlines vanished before the next dawn.

To greet another immortal after surviving the darkness became an act of remembrance and gratitude.

The oldest surviving accounts preserve a phrase associated with this tradition:

"We do not greet the dawn because we belong to the light. We greet it because we have survived the darkness."

Over time, Dawn Greetings spread beyond the communities that had experienced the wars directly. The expression became a common tradition throughout the immortal realm, connecting modern vampires to the memory of their ancestors.

The Legacy of the Bloody Wars

The First Arch and the Shadow

The Bloody Wars transformed Angelika and Wodan into enduring figures of vampiric history.

Angelika, the First Arch Vampire of the Tzmisce Bloodline, became remembered as the Crimson Matriarch, whose wisdom and determination preserved countless descendants from destruction. Her actions during the Crimson Vigil and the reconstruction of the Bloodlines established her as a symbol of responsibility among the ancient Arch Vampires.

Wodan, patriarch of The Aesir Blood of Ragnarok, became renowned for his military leadership, the March of the Black Ravens, and his unwavering service to the Eternal Source. His survival of the Valley of Crimson Rivers and his role in the defense of the Eternal Throne strengthened the legend of the Shadow of the Source.

Their histories demonstrated that the greatest Arch Vampires were not defined solely by supernatural power.

They were defined by the responsibilities they accepted toward those whose lives depended upon them.

The Throne That None Would Challenge

The Bloody Wars permanently transformed the political and spiritual foundations of vampiric civilization.

Before the conflict, the authority of the Eternal Throne had depended primarily upon ancient traditions, the recognition of the Bloodlines, and the loyalty of those who believed in the order established by Lavínia.

After the Night of the Eternal Wrath, the immortal world understood that the Eternal Source possessed a power no other vampire had demonstrated.

The destruction of the Seven Crowns became the defining warning of the age. Even the oldest Arch Vampires, whose abilities surpassed those of ordinary immortals, had been unable to withstand the First Blood.

The event established an unwritten principle that endured throughout subsequent generations: vampires might challenge the judgments of the Eternal Court, dispute the authority of rival Bloodlines, or reject allegiance to the Throne, but few would dare confront Lavínia herself.

Among the loyal Clans, her supremacy became a source of reverence.

Among the Hordes, it became a matter of caution.

Among the Outcasts, it became a legend whispered across centuries.

No recognized assembly of Arch Vampires would again openly declare war upon the Eternal Source.

The Silence of the Eternal Source

Following the Bloody Wars, Lavínia gradually withdrew from direct intervention in the disputes of the immortal realm. The Eternal Court resumed its responsibilities, and the Sentinels continued preserving the laws and traditions of the First Blood.

Her absence from ordinary political affairs did not diminish her authority.

Instead, it strengthened the mystery surrounding her existence.

The surviving vampires understood that the Eternal Source did not need to demonstrate her power repeatedly. The memory of the Eternal Wrath was sufficient.

Some believed that Lavínia regretted the destruction she had caused, mourning the descendants whose blood had returned to the silence of Final Death. Others argued that she had acted without hesitation because the survival of the immortal realm required a sacrifice no other being possessed the strength to make.

The Eternal Court preserved no definitive account of her private thoughts.

But the chronicles agree upon one truth.

The Eternal Source had shown mercy for centuries.

And when that mercy was mistaken for weakness, the immortal world discovered the terrible difference between the two.

The Blood Remembers

The Bloody Wars became the darkest chapter in the history of the First Blood. They destroyed ancient lineages, transformed the political balance of the immortal realm, and revealed the overwhelming power of the being from whom all vampires descended.

Yet the wars also produced a fragile understanding between factions that had once sought one another's destruction. Clans, Hordes, and Outcasts continued to follow different paths, but their survival depended upon preserving the world they shared.

The Eternal Throne endured, not merely as a political institution, but as a symbol of the power that had brought the immortal civilization back from the edge of extinction.

The final passage of the Chronicle of the Crimson Ruin preserves a warning attributed to an unnamed survivor of the Night of the Eternal Wrath:

"Before the Bloody Wars, vampires obeyed the Eternal Throne because they believed in its laws. After the Bloody Wars, even those who rejected its laws learned to fear the one who sat upon it."

And beneath that passage, written in the oldest surviving script of the First Blood, appears a final declaration:

The blood remembers. The Throne endures. The Eternal Source remains.
